Objective: Seedly is an app my team and I created an app designed to do more than just identify plants or tell you how to care for them, we give you the tools to succeed in being the best plant parent you can be.

Scope: This app includes a subscription service that offers a one stop shop, you can order seedlings or Seeds to your door, they come with soil pucks and nursery pots and our app is here to help you with any questions. The seedly app will give the user a quiz and offer a suggested subscription box or you can pick your own plants from a list of plants based on how you answered questions on the quiz, things like climate, housing type, possible pets in the home, and level of experience on the users part.
App Walkthrough
Concept: The concept of this project is to allow people to get into the hobby of growing things, in this generation plants are the new pets but not everyone has a green thumb. Plants can have all sorts of issues like infection, fungus, pests, and root rot, and it's hard to troubleshoot these issues if you don’t really know what you are doing. It can also be helpful to start out easy or with a plant that is less finicky and doesn’t require as much as maybe a fiddle leaf fig, maybe start with a succulent, and that’s where Seedly comes in. Seedly will recommend plants based on your skill level, living situation (ie climate, housing type), and if you have pets in the home which plants might be toxic to them.

Thermotic Treatment: For this project we really wanted everything to be cute, happy, and friendly, but we wanted to appeal to a wide variety of users. The name Seedly to us sounded cute, precious, exciting, and upbeat. We use greens, soft tans, and pinks for our color scheme to give off an earthy green but playful vibe everything from the icons to the website to the app has touches of our chosen playful color which is a soft pink that appears across all aspects. We used simple serif and san serif typefaces for a clean look. We edited the “S” and the “Y” in Seedly to add plant aspects like seeds and a leaf for our logo.
